On the 7th August, at 6:oo-7:00pm people around the country will be holding a candlelight vigil, I would like to support this by holding one here in Toowoomba. At the moment I have no idea where, but somewhere dark & quiet is a good start. I would like to hear some suggestions. Below is from the Facebook page. Here is a link Candlelight vigil for peace"The war on Gaza is breaking hearts across the world. We find it difficult to sit by and do nothing. Let's take this opportunity to send a peaceful message to the world......" "Let them know we are thinking of them - on both sides of the trouble - and praying to the Universe (or whatever deity you believe in) for their safety and delivery from oppression and fear." "Send love and peace to all the people - of all races - in Gaza and around the world affected by conflict by joining a candlelight vigil in your local area." "A very informal event, half an hour or so out of your day....if you would like to be involved, just nominate a suitable and safe meeting place for your local area within this event page - for example, mine will be the front of the Dunoon Store - and turn up with your candle or torch. If possible, take a picture. Ask people to maintain a solemn level of noise.......send lots of heart-felt love to those poor people." "If you can't make it to join with your community....or even the people in your street or club....please light a candle at home. " "May there be no more pain and suffering. x" "(Please don't post any distressing pictures in here...be mindful that this is a peaceful event page.)" "I will update event each time a venue is chosen here in the main invite....so just look for your town alphabetically." Dunoon - Dunoon General Store. Lismore - The Pride Wall - next to the Transit Centre. Mullumbimby - the bench outside the middle pub. Newrybar - grass by the hall. The Channon - The Channon Oval

I would also like to extent the vigil out to all people who are experiencing war and conflict. Perhaps we should also bring spare candles to light for each conflict that you wish to represent. I'm thinking that this would work best inside Hope City Church, that way we will be out of the wind and also be able to place the candles on the floor together to take photos. Anyway that's just what I'm thinking, And would need to get permission from Hope City. Would love to hear other suggestions

I'm going to quote a comment from a different website as I think that it's relevant to my next statement.
"As a mum of young children, I'm going to suggest a "in your own home" option for those like me! So, between 6-7pm tomorrow night, we'll spend time praying for the Israel/Gaza conflict, as well as in Syria, Iraq and other troubled countries." "A meeting could still be organised, but perhaps with a 'there in spirit' option too?"
My thoughts are, why don't we just do that? we could all just simply light some candles in our own home then take a photo of it. Then, this is where it gets interesting, we could set up a website with a picture of the world and a counter. Basically what you do is send your photo of your candle/s to the website and it will use your photo to light up part of the world, it will also add one on the photo counter. It would be cool if it could have a zoom function to look individual photos as well as your own. Any thoughts

Tonight is the night 7/8/2014 Carol Shipard wrote, "Whether you intend to do this at home or with a group, please record your event in a photo and post to this page later. A gorgeous day - and a ceasefire in progress......let's send hope that it lasts. x" All photos can be submitted by joining this Candlelight vigil page
