I've had some thoughts on this for sometime, and I think it's about time that the government recognise that not everyone should allowed to have a baby through surrogacy pregnancy. I understand that there are genuine people that have no other option then surrogacy if they want to have a child of their own flesh & blood and I'm in no way trying to stop this, but the problem is at the moment anyone with enough money can pay to have a surrogate baby (either here or overseas) and there is nothing that anyone can do about, even if your a convicted child sex offender, child murderer or even someone that just wants to eat a baby or use it for some cult sacrifice, figuratively speaking. There is nothing at the moment to stop anyone of these people having a surrogate baby to fulfil a vile, disgusting or selfish self gratifying needs or desires.
Just as adoption has a strict process in determining if the welfare of the child will not be compromised, so should be the the case in a surrogate pregnancy, because at the end of the day there will be a child as a result of the pregnancy that should be considered above all else.
I think that our government has a responsibility to the children that are unwilling participants. Their are some vile and disgusting people out their that can just basically order a baby, in fact anyone can be the benefactor of a surrogate pregnancy. I believe that if people that want to have a surrogate baby there needs to be a screening process prior to the pregnancy or if the surrogate baby is conceived without screening or without the knowledge of the appropriate government authority then the child should placed in government care until a screening process can be conducted. The rights of the child is what is important, not the rights of the individuals participating. Children are not a commodity to be used for you own benefit or to fill a shellfish need.
